I’m Dillan Mills. I live in Arizona, where I design the future.
As I was wrapping up high school and trying to decide what classes to enroll in for my first semester at NAU, I was pretty sure I was just going to major in Computer Science. My dad (an EE) suggested I sign up for a digital logic class in the EE program to feel it out. Unfortunately, I loved it and decided to persue a double major.
I spent the rest of my time at NAU balancing my heavy schedule full of CS and EE classes. Before I graduated, I also got married, had a kid, and a second one on the way. I was also fortunate enough to have an internship at Microchip Technology for most of the time I was enrolled. During my final few semesters, I participated in some really cool independent research programs working with ternary-based processing, and custom ring buffers with automatic memory management for embedded systems.
I managed to graduate Magna Cum Laude and join my team at Microchip full-time. I had a great experience there and learned lots. In 2021, I started feeling ready for a change and decided I wanted to try out working for a smaller company. I joined FirstPass Engineering and made it about 2 weeks before they announced the Synopsys acquisition, which marked the end of my foray at a small company. I have really enjoyed my time at Synopsys so far, and will continue to make the most of my time with them for the forseeable future.
